A Child's Curiosity

Post by Guest on Tue Feb 16, 2010 5:54 am

Iluvenis knew that Valentines day was coming up, and that it was a day when grow ups acted all mushy. They were always giving each other mushy looks, hugging, kissing, and saying stuff she just didn't get. She wanted to know why this day of all days, made grown ups act so silly.

Illuvenis saw her her mother sitting on the balcony of their suite looking at the lovely gardens. She walked out to where her mothwer was sitting, and crawled up in her lap.

"Mommy, why and how do people fall in love? And howcome they act so silly on Valentines Day?"

Since she was on the question kick, Iluvenis threw one last question, that had been puzzling her into the mix.

"Mommy where do babies come from?"

Emilia was lost in thought it had been a year since she had seen JonLouis and yet she still thought about him every day. She was looking out over the gardens lost in thought.

It was in the gardens at another place that he had first kissed her.

When her daughter crawled up into her lap she smiled at her. So many questions how to answer them? She had to think fast.

"I don't know; I have never been in love."

She kissed her forehead.

"And people act silly on Valentine's day because it is a day set aside to show someone you love that you are always thinking about them."

The last question threw her. She could not answer that question the same way it had been answered for her.

"That little one is a question that I will answer when you are a bit older."

In truth she had no clue how to answer it, not in a way that would satisfy her daughter without going into huge detail. She needed to talk to someone. She needed advice on how to handle that question. Perhaps Casie. She had young children.

Iluvenis listened to her mother, as she tried to answer her questions. The answers all seemed very reasonable, except the last one. That was one answer every child hates to hear, when your older.

She felt bad for Mommy, because she never been in love. "Well maybe Grandpa can shoot some one in the butt with his arrow, and you can find love Mommy."

Emilia laughed.

"As sweet as that thought is I don't want it that way. I want to know that I love someone because I fee it. Not because your grandpa did it."

She hugged her close.

"I am not even sure that I date this year."

Iluvenis thought about it a minute, than got a devilish grin on her face.

She smiled how was it that her daughter was reading her mind.

"Defiantly not him. If I ever heard your grandfather had even thought about it I would have to hurt him."

Iluvenis was kind of surprised at the answer, she liked Mr. Jon Louis for her mommy.

"Well what would be your perfect man Mommy?"

She smiled sadly.

"I don't know little princess. I really don't."

She knew that JonLouis was the closest that anyone had come to being what she wanted. She was confused.

Iluvenis saw the sad smile, and felt bad for asking. She gave Emilia a big hug.

"It's ok Mommy, your young, we'll find you someone."

She hugged her back and stood up.

"I think there are cookies in the kitchen."

She smiled at her and her eyes sparkled.

"Besides; I have you to love."

She smiled at Iluvenis.

"And I will never leave you. Will you be my Valentine this year?"

She could spend the day with her doing girly things.

" Yes Mommy I would be happy to be your Valentine girl... We could go shopping, and watch movies, and eat lots and lots of chocolate. Maybe invite Grandmother, if her and Uncle Manny are not busy.!!!"

She smiled.

"I think your grandmother would like that."

She would make a note to see her mother about it soon.

Iluvenis felt like the luckiest little fairy alive. To have such a lovely smart Mommy.

"I love you Mommy."

And with that Illuvenis went with her Mommy in the kitchen, to have milk and cookies.
