Seeking The Vampire Council

Post by Starguest on Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:47 pm

A portal opens in a swirl of light and sparks.  The colors are vast and bright.  So bring in fact, that to lay human eyes upon them could be blinding.  Three elderly beings draped in bright yellow cloaks wearing white shoes upon their feet step into the portal.  The youngest, Ocknuke of the Verdigris Clan, spoke to the other two in his native tongue.  "Erk dif keyt donk zan lopt?" ((What if they won't see us?))

The eldest of the Calgtongs answered his as they flew through the rainbow of colors swirling around them.  "Seck bong keyt hurgoise loptIgt widz keyvt prongnouse."  ((How could they refuse us?  It is their responsibility.)) Flaglock of the Roseate Clan was always the most germane of them all.

Learktone of the Perse Clan spoke in response to them both.  "Nea widz keyvt onctonge."  ((She is their vampire.))  He hated having to travel to Earth, he preferred to stay on their home planet of Calgtongia.  He hated the darkness of the single sunned planet, and having to speak their common tongues.  Especially, English, having been the hardest to learn yet the one most commonly used.

A swirling vortex of light bright enough to turn night to day opened deep within the Louisiana swamps.  Animals all around scattered to hide from the brightness that rivaled the sun itself.  Three beings stepped forth from the portal, it closing behind them.  The three yellow clad bodies, the tallest of which being only two feet and five inches tall, began to run through the swamp lands.

The small beings had great stamina, but this was not their first visit to these lands to request audience with these beings.  They had come prepared.  They had each consumed a vast quantity of nourishment before setting out upon their quest.  Which was a good thing as they ran for the equivalent of ninety-two Earth hours.

Once they stood before the pyramid that was their destination, Learktone spoke loudly.  "We request an audience with the Council on an urgent matter."  One of the century's turned and moved with slow grace toward the door of the pyramid.  Twenty minutes later he returned.  He stood beside the door and gave a single nod of his head.  The other century turned and waited for the trio to fall in ling behind him.

The four beings walked through the door of the pyramid and down a long hallway.  Then the century paused and turned to the right.  The three cloaked figured turned in their steps and entered the chamber to the right.  They stood before a long slender table the shape of an arc.  Servants brought chairs in behind them so they could sit.  The three managed to lift themselves into the seats with minimal effort. They waited to be addressed before speaking.

Re: Seeking The Vampire Council

Post by JonLouis on Thu Jul 04, 2013 10:37 pm

JonLouis gazed upon the trio of travelers.  "What brings the Calgtongs to Earth this day?"  Not pleasantries, no greetings.  The Calgtongs were not exactly allies of Earthlings.  There were never any wars between to two, and most humans knew nothing of these beings or their planet.  But there was still no love loss there.

A servant came through the door to the chamber with a tray.  Upon that tray were three clear glasses containing a thick, dark, sludge-like substance.  It was, indeed, swamp muck.  It was the closest thing to sustenance that the  Calgtongs could get on Earth.  Also upon the tray was a wine glass containing fresh, warm blood.

The tray was presented to the guests first.  Allowing each of them to take a glass.  Then the servant carried the tray to the center of the table, behind which sat JonLouis.  None of the rest of the council was present for this meeting.  JonLouis had been the only one to grant them audience.

Slender, almost boney, fingers reached to wrap around the wine glass.  The glass was then brought to his pale lips and was sipped from without so much as a drop to his perfectly white dress shirt.  Setting the glass back down, he smoothed his hands down his black slacks.  "It is unusual for you to come here."  The last he had seen of these three, it was on their planet.  Now they were here.  And JonLouis wanted to know why.

The Calgtongs each took their offered glasses of refreshment.  One by one the glasses were brought to the lips of each of the beings.  Large drinks from the glasses were consumed given their vast hunger after such a long journey.

A second servant came into the room with a pitcher of the sludge and a folding table.  The table was set beside the chairs and the pitcher placed upon it so the guests could refill their drinks.  It wasn't until the servant left that the first words were spoken.  "Your fire-bringer is the reason for our unannounced presence."  Flaglock paused in his consumption long enough for that to be an answer to the vampire.

Learktone spoke as he refilled his glass.  "She brings the fires and leaves death in her wakeShe has become ... What is the word I seek?"   He brought his glass back to his lips when he was through filling it.  Allowing another to finish his thought.

It was Ocknuke who finished his thought.  "EvilYour mistress of fire has become evilShe has brought an end to both the Sepia and the Slate Clan'sOnly a small population of either surviveRe-population might not even be possible."  He looked down for a moment before refilling his glass.  The trio again awaited a response from the vampire.

Re: Seeking The Vampire Council

JonLouis brought his right hand to his mouth.  Thumb came to rest upon his cheek, middle finger hooked his chin, and his index finger caressed his lips as he thought for a moment.  After a brief period, his hand came back down from his face.  "I shall put our most powerful witches upon mixing you a suitable potion to enhance the fertility of your clansmen."  It was the only thing he could think to do for them about the population issue.

He took another moment to think.  "As for Venis, she will be dealt with.  She is not herself, and under normal circumstances would never dare such an attack.  She will be made to pay for her crimes against you.  Believe this which I say to you."  He knew that Venis would want to make it right again.  He also knew that the chances were rather high that she would end up hurt by the entity within her, or in trying to get it out of her.  Either way, it would be a punishment.

One last declaration was to be made.  "You will, of course, stay here for a respite before returning home?  It would give our witches a chance to come up with a suitable potion for you to take home with you."  It was a question, but it was also a statement.  He had no intention of letting them go without the promised remedy for their situation.

The Calgtongs all looked at each other and then back to the vampire.  One by one they spoke.  "Agreed."  "Agreed." "Agreed." The three beings slid from their chairs and placed their empty glasses upon the table with the empty pitcher.

Two servants came into the chamber.  One retrieved the table and the items upon it, the other escorted the three to a room for the evening.  The one who had retrieved the table returned to get the chairs while the three guests were getting settled for a rest.

After a period of twenty-four Earth hours of sleep, the trio awoke.  They were given the potion as promised.  They dined upon multiple pitchers of sludge until their bellies could hold no more.  Then, potion in hand, they left to return home.  They were confident that the vampire would be true to his word.
